So I went to watch a newly downloaded video and the picture looked great, however the audio sounded like chipmunks! So of course I search google for a possible cause and to my surprise find NOTHING. So I am writing this page to help people in the future who run into this.

You most likely have the same issue I do if you have up to date codecs and find all of a sudden the audio on all of your videos (No matter what player) sound like chipmunks or the audio sounds fast.

After trying to reinstall my codecs, updating my players I found that the cause was iTunes 8.0.0.35! I simply closed iTunes and all my videos played correctly again and the audio sounded great. Simply solution until iTunes updates this crappy bug.
