This is an awesome cover of Folsom Prison (Johnny Cash) done by Brandi Carlile. The sound is great! The video not so great, pretty jumpy. This was taken with my camera's video function which leaves a lot to be desired. Also I could not keep my leg from bouncing to this great tune! So it's a little jumpy.

This was a really small venue about 300 people total, one of those people was American Idol runner up David Archuleta, he was standing about 10 feet behind us the whole time.

Anyway enjoy this great cover!

King of Leon Madison Square Garden Sign SOLD OUT

So there is about a week delay in writing this post as I wanted it to be a good post with some good content as this was an amazing show!

Kings of Leon is one of my favorite bands and I was so excited to find out that they would be playing in Madison Square Garden while I was in New York. I have not been able to see them in years. They skipped Utah in their last 2 tours. So I was pretty exicted to be able to go. Then I found out they sold out the Garden! SOLD OUT the Garden! That is crazy! Last time I saw them they did not sell out "Bricks" which only holds maybe 1000 people. I figured I would still be able to get tickets of Craigslist or eBay. Then I started looking for tickets.. and well they were expensive. I watched a pair of GA tickets go for over 1000 bucks!

So the day of the show comes and Ticketmaster released a small number of tickets and I was able to get a seat right by the stage for only $44 plus fees (so that made the ticket almost $60). My seat was behind the stage which seemed ok on paper. Then it sucked at the show, until they started playing then it was awesome! They turned around quite a bit to recognize the entire stadium.

The below picture shows my seat, without zooming or anything. So it was not that bad of a seat.

Kings of Leon MSG Crowd

I still cannot believe how many people were at this show!

The really crazy part was that everyone there really wanted to be there as well. SO there was a lot of singing along etc. Here are some videos I took with my camera that show some of the awesome crowd and atmosphere.

They also had some really cool merch... such as this Limited Edition Poster (500 made)

And this tee shirt made for this show! Not this tour, but this very show.

I also grabbed this shirt as it was pretty cool too

Needless to say this was an amazing show and I cannot wait to see them again!

Neil Young @ Madison Square Gardent 12/16/2008

Neil Young Program Cover

I was able to attend Neil Young's last show of the 2008 tour on Tuesday, December 16th 2008. Above is a scan of the program cover.

To start off, I did not have a ticket so I headed down to "the Garden" to buy one out front. It was raining and I am staying about 20 blocks away. So I get there and there are tons of "people" offering tickets to the show. Long story short I bought a bogus ticket. It looked good =) but it was raining so my judgment may have been compromised. See the scan of the ticket so you can decide.

Fake Neil Young Ticket

Besides the COUNTERFEIT stamp it looks pretty good right? When I took it to the counter they told me it was bogus and stamped it.  So I went out to find the guy I bought it from and try to get my money back (like that is really going to happen, LOL ). So I am out there talking to a few people who are looking for tickets and show them my bogus ticket so they know what to look for. One older gentleman got angry that I was ripped off and started fighting with the scalpers. It started to get heated, so I got out of there. Luckily I found a real ticket from an awesome scalper who gave me a good deal. This one looks much better...

Real Neil Young Ticket

Now that you see this one, you can totally tell the other one is crap. So now I have spent almost 150 bucks to go see Neil Young... was it worth it? YES!

This was an amazing show. I was basically front row! I was in the GA pit and the nice thing about going to shows by yourself is you can easily wiggle your way to the very front! I only had my iPhone which is known for a crappy camera, but you can see how close I was!

The Watson twins also made an appearance with the opening band "Everest" who also rocked. The highlight of the evening for me was still when Neil played "Rockin in the Free World" and both opening bands came out to help sing the chorus.
